Phoenix Ball 2006: General Information for Volunteers

Who are we?

We are the Mississauga Board of Chinese Professionals in Business – better known as the CPB. Our organization's main goal is to promote togetherness in the community, whether it be through fundraising for a good cause or educating others about important social issues. We've had tremendous success in reaching our goals over the past few years and we expect that to continue going forward. The CPB just keeps getting better every year and we welcome all of you to get involved in all of our community initiatives

What is the Phoenix Ball?

The Phoenix Ball Gala is one of the biggest events we put on every year—the icing on top of the cake, if you will. It's a fantastic night filled with inspiring speeches, good people, good food and most importantly, a great cause. Last year, we raised over $100,000 for 7 awesome charities. This year, our goal is to raise $150,000 for the following charities: Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto, Credit Valley Hospital, the Hazel McCallion Endowment Fund, Smile China, Trillium Health Centre, University of Toronto at Mississauga, and the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Mississauga.

Where do YOU fit into all of this?

The Phoenix Ball involves a lot of planning and a lot of work. It would not be able to fly without the energetic help of volunteers like you. We're looking for a group of hardworking and dedicated individuals who want to lend a hand in making this gala a huge success. The following are some examples of areas where we will need your help:

• Reception
• Raffle Ticket Sales
• Coat Check
• Bear Mountain
• Guest Greeters
• Stage Escorts
• Stage Crew
• Set up/Clean up
• Food

Training Sessions

We will be holding two mandatory training sessions for volunteers on October 7th 3-4:30pm and October 8th 3-4:30pm. A lot of important information will be discussed and you must sign up for one of the sessions in order to be a volunteer at the Phoenix Ball. You will be meeting with your team leaders and learning more about your roles for the evening and what they entail.

Conditions

• You must be available for the entire duration of the assigned shift
• If you are a guest at the dinner party, you cannot be a volunteer
• You must attend one of our mandatory training sessions in order to be a volunteer at Phoenix Ball
• Deadline for online registration is September 30th, 2006
