MISSISSAUGA - The Mississauga Board of Chinese Professionals and Businesses (CPB) aims to recapture its previous success with this year's edition of the Phoenix Ball. Each year, the gala celebrates the joys of living in Mississauga while functioning as the main fundraising event for CPB.

"Canadians pride themselves on having a one-tier, all-inclusive health system and a quality of life that is the envy of the world. CPB helps to make this a reality every day in Mississauga by contributing to the pillars of our community," said George Wong, Chair of Phoenix Ball 2006.

True to form, CPB will continue to raise money for 7 notable community organizations:

  • Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto,
  • Hazel McCallion Endowment Fund,
  • Smile China Project,
  • The Credit Valley Hospital,
  • Trillium Health Centre,
  • University of Toronto at Mississauga, and
  • Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Mississauga.

"With the generous support of our sponsors, members, guests, volunteers and friends, CPB has contributed over $900,000 to the community in the past few years," said Mr. Wong.

"Guests attending the Ball will enjoy exception entertainment from Xing Dance Theatre, a renowned dance troupe known for their fusion of classical ballet, Chinese dance and modern dance. They will also have an opportunity to dance the night away to singing by Don Choi and the rhythms of the Carry-On Band. And for their shopping pleasure, they will have numerous unique silent auction items to bid on."
